Praying for Breakthrough

Kenya: Your prayers for our Global Leaders' Team meeting in Nairobi at the end of March were answered. All leaders arrived on time, and the Lord met us in a Spirit of love and unity. One result was clarity around realignment of this team structure around what Jesus seems to be doing in his global harvest field. Thank you for your prayers and intercession.

China: Pray for healing of a key partner in the gospel who is recovering from surgery.

Dominican Republic: A new WP missionary has deployed to the DR. Praise the Lord that the initial set-up and cultural acclimation are going well despite some logistical challenges. Pray for ministry and disciple-making relationships to grow and emerge for this missionary.

Cameroon: Pray for a key disciple-making partner ministering in Cameroon. For financial and educational reasons his wife and family are living in a different African country. Pray that the Lord would open the door for them to be reunited.

USA: Pray for a key WP Latino initiative to help envision and equip potential Latino missionaries to make disciples in Muslim contexts. Two immersive experiences are planned in April (Atlanta) and May (Houston). Ask the Lord to call and send more Latino missionaries into the Muslim harvest fields.

East Africa: Pray for a gathering of World Partners Global Leadership Team in Nairobi, March 22-27. Pray for the Lord to encounter these 20 key leaders from various regions (and headquarters) as they pray and seek him together to discern patterns in how the Lord is moving and invest in those things.

Middle East: Pray for a number of our missionaries in the region being directly impacted by the war. Pray for physical and psychological safety as well as boldness to seize gospel opportunities amid the crisis.

Cuba: Pray for Missionary Church believers there as energy and food shortages continue to spiral down. Pray for sustainable solutions even as they respond to the growing spiritual hunger in their communities.

Uruguay: Pray for missionaries hosting two gatherings to invest in training disciple-makers. One is April 15-22 and the other April 22-28. Pray for the Spirit to encounter all who gather.

Philippines: Pray for two young men a missionary has been investing in as disciple-makers. This month, both are stepping up to give spiritual leadership—one in recovery center and another in local outreach community. Also, praise the Lord that another disciple celebrated a year of sobriety and is sharing his testimony with others.

Liberia: Pray for a number of Muslim students attending the Evangelical schools missionaries have started. Pray that these students would encounter Jesus while they study at the schools. Pray that this may also open doors for the church to minister to the students' entire families.

Spain: Pray as missionaries prepare for a special outreach event to motorcyclists across Spain. Pray for spiritual breakthrough among those with whom they are in relationship.

Praying for Breakthrough

Middle East: Pray for missionaries and partners in the region whose lives and ministry are being disrupted by the war against Iran. Pray for protection, but also for power by the Holy Spirit to bear witness in times of insecurity and distress.

Cuba: Pray for Pastor Rodolfo and the leaders of the Missionary Church of Cuba. Due to recent actions in Venezuela, Cuba’s fuel, power, and food shortages are unprecedented. Even so the Missionary Churches there are reporting an astonishing number of people coming to faith because of the suffering. Praise the Lord and pray the Lord will miraculously meet tangible needs as they faithfully call people to Jesus.

Kenya: Pray for an upcoming gathering of World Partners global leaders in Kenya the week of March 23. Pray everyone can arrive despite huge travel disruptions due to the Iran war. Pray also for this team to be able to seek and hear from the Lord as to how we can join him in critical areas of the global harvest.

North Asia: Pray along with a WP missionary who is asking for more harvest workers in his region. Pray for the Lord to raise up people in Missionary Churches in whom is a deep desire to respond to a global harvest call.

Guatemala: Pray for Alex as he moves through the grief process from a recent death of a loved one back in Michigan. Pray also for the Lord to bring new people to team with him in Guatemala.

Cuba: The Missionary Church of Cuba is experiencing some of the worst economic hardship they have ever seen since recent events in Venezuela. The scarcity level for food, electricity, and fuel is unprecedented. Even so, people are coming to Christ out their desperation. Pray for the Lord's mercy, provision, and power to be on display on the Missionary Church of Cuba.

Middle East: Pray for WP missionaries who are balancing ministry and parenting teens.

Middle East: Pray for an emerging church in Dubai rooted in disciple-making through a WP
related network connected to Southeast Asia.

Middle East: Pray for missionaries and partners in the region who have significant relationships with Muslims celebrating Ramadan. Pray for these friends who receive dreams and visions directly from Jesus.

Vietnam: Pray for healing in a key disciple-making partner who is experiencing significant health challenges.

Russia: Pray for two long-term Mongolian partners who have traveled to Southern Russian to encourage and empower the relatively few believers among the Tuvan people.

Taiwan: Join a WP missionary who is investing in and praying for young believers who are returning home to celebrate Chinese new year. Pray they can share the Gospel by the power of the Spirit to unbelieving family members.

Pray for all our missionaries and partners to experience holy subtraction. Key to relational
disciple-making is time and availability. Pray for both the missionary and the unbeliever to
subtract activities that cause business so that genuine relationship can grow and deepen.

We have a missionary map on the wall at the entrance of our church so that people are constantly reminded of our missionaries. We have local partners who communicate regularly with our missionaries and then share quarterly in service about their prayer needs.

(2) I love our commitment to exposing the next generation to global missions. Every summer we take a youth team to Vicente Gurerro, Mexico, to build houses and share the gospel. We also frequently take teams of adults and youth to serve in Thailand.

(3) I love our heart for East Asia missions. Many people in Hawaii have ethnic roots to East Asia and that has led us to send and partner with missionaries in places like Japan, Thailand, and the Philippines. People in those countries love Hawaiian culture, which creates natural bridges to building relationships and sharing the gospel."

Vietnam: Pray for healing in two key leaders in Vietnam facing significant health issues that are affecting their ability to minister to others.

Cambodia: Pray for wisdom for a collaboration between an American missionary and indigenous leaders seeking to minister in Cambodia. There are many challenges that need Holy Spirit direction and breakthrough.

Mongolia: Pray for the Lord to reveal the right leader for a key consortium of mission groups working in Mongolia. 

Russia: Pray for a collaboration between American missionaries and Mongolian disciple-makers who have sent a group to southern Russia to build into the few believers inside the ethnic Tuvan people group.

Europe: Pray for missionaries ministering in the peak of the dark cold period in Northern Europe. Pray for renewed energy and joy for our staff and ministry partners.

Middle East: Pray for our workers in the region as Ramadan starts in February. Pray for our team and their Muslim friends, who can be open to hearing from Jesus in this period.

Egypt: Pray for World Partners staff and for regional stability in spite of civil war in Sudan and the impending threat of an all-out civil war in Ethiopia (which also affects Egypt due to the Nile). Continued prayer for regional instability involving international forces in places like Sudan, Ethiopia, Libya, Yemen, and Lebanon.

Bulgaria: Pray for World Partners staff in Bulgarian and wisdom for the government as they work on the 2026 budget and for stability regarding the protests and upcoming transition to the Euro.

Guatemala: Pray with Alex Clem for an upcoming Vacation Bible School on December 20th. Pray that God will prepare the hearts of the children attending and that all the organizational details will come together for the leaders. Pray also for a seven-week training on the Christian faith taking place in Xecotoj.

Thailand: Pray for our staff in Thailand as they take advanced language classes. Pray they are able to achieve an advanced level of speaking, reading, and writing, to increase new ministry opportunities.

Belgium: Praise God with the Kalabrics for the unexpected ways the Lord brought people to faith this year. Please pray for a new disciple who has come to faith through ministry. His powerful witness is already impacting his family and a wide network of relationships across Europe.

Liberia: Pray that the Liberian schools will be able to further strengthen their spiritual, educational, and financial standings to best serve students, parents, and communities in the coming year.

5 Reasons We Thank God for your Prayers!

They are answered.
We know the Lord always hears our prayers and answers them.  The answer may be yes, no, or “not yet—keep praying,” but we are confident the Lord hears and answers our prayers as He works all things together for good.

They are consistent.
We have heard how many of you regularly pray for World Partners needs individually or with a small group. Over time and across our Church family, that represents many hours of intercession for which we are so grateful and the Lord is glorified.

They are timely.
We are confident the prayer needs we give intersect with the burden of those the Lord raises up to pray. In the Kingdom, we know the Holy Spirit sensitizes certain people to pray for certain things at certain times. We thank the Lord for the mystery of prayer.

They express faith.
Prayer builds faith. Your prayers give confidence to our missionaries. Your faith to pray multiples faith in those for whom you pray.

They empower our mission.
Our mission is driven by the Holy Spirit to see people all over the world come to follow Jesus and be transformed by him. Your prayers for World Partners' missionaries and partners makes a difference on earth and in the other realm.

Cameroon: Due to political violence following the elections, an important gathering of disciple-makers was postponed. Pray for calm and stability to return, and for the Lord to give boldness and encouragement to the disciples there.

Russia: Pray for a World Partners disciple-maker and a small team traveling to a mountainous region in southern Russia to explore gospel opportunities among the people there.

Tanzania: Pray for peace amid the civil unrest that is affecting the ministry of World Partners–related disciple-makers. Ask the Lord to strengthen their faith and give them boldness as they continue their work.

Bhutan: Pray for a key World Partners–related disciple-maker based in Nepal who is currently traveling to neighboring Bhutan. Pray that he will be able to encourage disciples to start new churches and reach unreached people groups in nearby regions.

Jamaica, Philippines, and Vietnam: Pray for these countries recently impacted by major hurricanes. World Partners–related people in each of these nations have been affected. Pray for God’s provision for them and those they serve, and for new openness to the Gospel in light of these disasters.

Jamaica: Pray for our Jamaican Missionary Church brothers and sisters impacted by Hurricane Melissa. World Partners is in contact to determine what may be needed in terms of rebuilding assistance. Pray that the Lord will provide what this sister denomination needs to serve the most vulnerable in the wake of the storm.

Cameroon: Pray for several new churches started by a World Partners Affiliate Partner as the country’s election cycle recently ended with the re-election of the world’s longest-serving president. There is significant pressure on churches to remain silent about injustices.

Chad: Pray for another World Partners Affiliate Partner who will be traveling to this Muslim-majority country to strengthen the gospel witness there by networking and equipping other disciple-makers.

Israel: Pray for four World Partners missionaries and other partners who are gathering to discern the next right steps in response to several recent moves of God’s Spirit in Israel through various networks. Ask the Lord for wisdom and unity as they gather to pray and collaborate, seeking to see more Jewish people come to faith in Christ.

Praise: Praise the Lord for three new World Partners missionaries being added to our global team! Ask Jesus to pour out His Spirit on them as they prepare and engage their calling. (More information coming soon.)

Asia: Praise the Lord for a strategic ministry prayer and planning time focused on sending missionary disciple-makers to North Korea. Jeff Spence and several Mongolian partners participated in this process—pray that missionaries will be raised up.

Israel: Pray for a key gathering of church-planting disciple-makers taking place in two weeks. Currently, seven Messianic churches have emerged in Israel. This meeting of missionaries and new partners will seek the Lord’s direction for what comes next.

Peru: Pray for World Partners missionaries who are hosting back-to-back mission team and training events this month. Pray for fruitful connections and God-glorifying outcomes.

USA: Praise the Lord for a powerful encounter last week between Bethel students on fall break and Burmese Muslims in Fort Wayne, IN, facilitated through World Partners missionaries Steve and Sheila Harrigan.

General: Pray for a WP missionary and her father, who was recently diagnosed with cancer.

Praying for Breakthrough

Myanmar: Praise the Lord for 10 new baptisms last month through a long-term partner. Despite civil war and instability, there is a growing hunger for the gospel. Pray for a new disciple-making movement to emerge there.

Nepal: Praise the Lord for another key partner who recently baptized nine new believers. Pray that the church will help these new believers become firmly grounded in their faith.

North Asia. Please pray for safe travels and a fruitful time in South Korea for staff members and partners. Ask the Lord to bless their time and to give wisdom as they plan for the next season in North Asia. Pray they will be encouraged as they celebrate together and gain insight into how World Partners can best serve in Korea.

Indonesia. Pray for a ministry partner as they trust God to provide a ministry partner with a true heart for mission work. Pray also for new opportunities and connections with those ready to hear the Good News!

Panama. Pray for missionary partners Frank & Silvia Saavedra as they prepare for a women's conference on October 11th. Pray for encouragement for all attending as Silvia and the women from the Pastor Network support group host their first women’s gathering called “Women’s Connection.” Ask God to bless the event, guide every detail, and prepare the hearts of all who serve and attend.

Sierra Leone. Praise the Lord for Janet Nickel's career missionary service in West Africa. Janet faithfully served for over 45 years in global missions, with 35 of those years being in her "home" country of Sierra Leone. Please pray for Janet as she transitions to life back home in the US, as well as for those in whom she invested in Sierra Leone to make and multiply disciples.

Pakistan. Pray for a key missionary partner in Pakistan who is currently on the ground mobilizing gospel teams in a Muslim area as well as teams serving people heavily impacted by severe flooding. Pray that many will follow Jesus because of this witness.

Nepal. Pray for several WP connected disciple-makers who have just endured violent protests and government responses in their country. Pray for good governance to return and for the Lord to redeem the violence and turmoil that has shaken Nepal.

Middle East. Pray for a missionary family who is currently experiencing some challenges preventing them from returning to their area of ministry. Pray for breakthrough in their circumstances.

Bangladesh. Praise the Lord for a number of baptisms taking place today in Bangladesh.

Russia. Pray for believers and their families among the Tuva people in Russia who have been discipled but have now been drafted to the front lines of the war in Ukraine.

Africa. Pray for Santiago, a young man discipled while studying in Cameroon, who is now initiating a new disciple-making, church-planting effort in his home country of Equatorial Guinea.

USA. Pray for Bill and Debbie Jones. Bill has battled health issues for a month, possibly walking pneumonia. Ask for wisdom for doctors, protection from complications, and full recovery.

Argentina. Pray for Christina Duran’s father, after a recent biopsy revealed cancer in several areas. Pray for the Duran family as they travel from Argentina to be with Christina's family.

Philippines. Pray for our staff and team working with the Empower Kids ministries to be encouraged, mentored, and strengthened in their faith. Praise God for a recent event in which 430 students attended and many encountered Jesus!

Bolivia: Praise God for the short-term team from First Missionary Church in Berne, Indiana, who were able to travel and serve alongside the Wolheters in Bolivia.

Colombia: Pray for a partner leader in Colombia as he recovers from knee surgery.

Russia: Pray for a staff member as they search for a new apartment and manage the many challenges of relocating. Also, ask God to soften the heart of their atheist friend and use their ongoing relationship as a witness to reveal His love and truth.

Various: 
Pray for many missionaries who are leaving the US this month after their Home Ministry Assignment this summer. Ask the for safe travel, grace to re-enter life on the field, and to see the fruit of the their fundraising work.

Praise the Lord for newer missionaries who have recently made progress on their support raising!

This year’s conference theme was This Is My Story, and we heard powerful testimonies of how Jesus is moving through Missionary Church disciple-makers in the U.S. and around the world.

Special Prayer for the SHIFT Conference
The Missionary Church General Conference will gather in Fort Wayne July 7–10. The Missionary Church family will come from all over the United States and the world to fellowship, pray, share testimonies, and conduct organizational business.

Please pray specifically for:
  • All to be encountered by the Holy Spirit and hear what the Lord is speaking 
  • A spirit of oneness to prevail as we worship, pray, share, and conduct business
  • Christ alone to be glorified and pleased in our words and ways together this week
  • Any critical decisions to be made in love and truth with maturity and wisdom
  • A spirit of joy and expectancy as learn and share time together
  • The Lord to deliver us from any evil plans of the enemy

Special Prayer for the World Partners Staff Retreat
Be praying for our World Partners missionary staff retreat, which follows SHIFT on July 14–17. About 60 missionary team members, staff and children will gather at a retreat center to refresh and renew during their heavy Home Ministry Assignment schedule.  

Pray specifically for:
  • A remarkable spirit of peace and renewal to mark our time together
  • Impromptu conversations between missionaries that encourage and edify one another
  • The children of missionaries to be poured into and to feel at home with one another
  • The worship leaders, speakers, and prayer times will be rich and anointed
  • Traveling mercies as people travel in from different locations
  • A sense of deep belonging together from the Lord as we gather for the week

  • Pray that a wider conflict involving more countries and casualties will be prevented, in Jesus’ name.

Recently, leaders from Latin America, Asia, and Africa met to discuss restructuring efforts to help more countries form their own denominations in relationship with one another. Pray that this restructuring will bear good relational fruit.

West Africa. Pray new opportunities emerging in several West African countries. Pray for wisdom over WP affiliate, Ezekiel Ango, as he discerns how best to help strengthen churches in the region.

Global. Pray for several missionaries and the immigrants they serve who are currently seeking visas or renewals for the countries where they live. Ask Jesus to provide favor with immigration officials in those nations.

South Asia. Pray for several Asian disciple-makers connected to World Partners who are being empowered to travel this month to areas of active or potential persecution for the sake of the gospel. In these places, they will gather small groups (5–10 people) within their networks to build up their faith and equip them to make disciples in spite of security concerns.

Cuba. Thank the Lord for reports that recent disciple-making training events on the island encouraged both the leaders and the participants.

Pray for new missionaries raising prayer and financial support. Pray for more churches and individuals to partner in their ministries.

Pray for encouragement and strength against the forces of this world. And also, for safety and peace for the World Partners staff who are in countries with volatile situations.
