I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth. These are the thing I will do; I will not forsake them; -Isaiah 42:16 (NIV)

David and Diane, and their two young children, began their service with World Partners in 1979. For many years they were involved sharing Christ and accompanying others as His disciples in France. This involved extensive cooperation with Roman Catholics. After a twelve year break, during which time David earned three Masters degrees and two Ph.D.s while studying the missiological implications of that ministry, they are once again serving with World Partners and Global Scholars. They are now located in the African country of Cameroon where David teaches at the State University, is a lecturer in missiology at the Bangui Evangelical School of Theology, and directs the doctoral program in Intercultural Studies at the Cameroonian Faculty of Evangelical Theology.
There are few, if any, indigenous Cameroonian missiologists. And in this predominantly French speaking part of Africa few people are actively working to foster disciple-making movements. In fact, the dominiant missional model and current church practice seem hostle to a disciple-making ministry. David and Diane are laboring to rectify this situation. They are doing this through personally accompanying some of their students and acquaintances on the path of discipleship, through courses that are being taught at both seminaries, and by writing of a book which is currently being finalized for publication (in both French and English).
