Therefore, be imitators of God, as beloved children; and encourage yourself in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma. -Ephesians 5:1

Bio

Name(s): Hawkins Family

Host Country: Bulgaria

Josh and Sarah came to know the Lord as young people and received the call to missions abroad at the university. They have been married since 2005 and have three lovely girls. More recently, they spent two periods in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus to minister to international university students. These students, with the supervision of the national leadership of the International Evangelical Student Fraternity (IFES), now direct the ministry there. God is moving forward in this area and they felt their call to leave Cyprus and go to Bulgaria. Josh and Sarah are dedicated to the one-on-one discipleship of youth in Bulgaria, Eastern Europe and the United States, as well as to the encouragement and training of those who work with them.

Vision
We are missionaries because we believe, as followers of Christ, our mission is to make disciples of all nations. Bulgaria is simply where God has called us to fulfill this mandate.

Focus
We focus on discipleship of young people one by one in Bulgaria, Eastern Europe and the United States, as well as the encouragement and training of those who work with them.

History
Record Josh grew up attending Woodburn Missionary Church, Woodburn, Indiana and accepted the Lord as a child. He fully embraced his commitment to Christ as a sophomore in high school. He started teaching a Bible study in high school that year and has worked with youth ever since. Josh also participated in a short-term mission trip to Spain in high school and helped start a clown ministry in the hospital for his overseas experience. Josh completed his bachelor's degree in youth ministry / studies for teenagers at Bethel College, Mishawaka, Indiana. Sara met Christ as a child. She has been involved in youth ministry and short-term mission trips to Guatemala and New Mexico. Sarah completed her baccalaureate in nursing at Bethel College. Together, Josh and Sarah worked with high school youth at Harris Prairie Church of Christ, Granger, Indiana, in addition to serving as interim youth pastor at Woodburn Missionary Church. They also ministered to college students at Bethel College in Mishawaka, Indiana. More recently, they spent 3 and a half years in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus ministering to international university students. Students with oversight of the national leadership of the International Evangelical Student Fraternity (IFES) now lead the ministry there. Testimony

Our focus is building relationships with Bulgarian youth and their families in order to bring them to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and disciple them on how to live in Him and bring others to Him as well. We are also working with others to launch the Missionary Mentors Network. The objective of this ministry is to equip and guide young Americans from the moment of their call to missions until the moment of their departure to the field. The training of youth pastors, the provision of materials to youth pastors and parents who support their youth, and the provision of a missionary on the ground to guide each student are some of the ways we see this happening.
