Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness. Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust also in Him, and He will do it. And He will bring forth your righteousness as the light and your judgment as the noonday. -Psalm 37: 3-6

The Ban Pak Ping Project

Larry and Ou serve in the Isaan (Northeast) Region of Thailand with the “Ban Pak Ping Project.”  This project uses tools of agriculture, handicrafts and nutrition to build relationships in order to share the Gospel and make disciples.  The community where they minister is considered epidemic with the HIV virus, and (although not spoken of overtly) a special part of the ministry is reaching families made destitute by HIV.  Ou, as project coordinator, and Larry as spiritual and technical support, work together with the Ban Pak Ping team to use agriculture, handicrafts, and nutrition to encourage folks economically, technically, and nutritionally, with the goal to bless them spiritually.

Larry first served in Thailand with the US Peace Corps after college in 1980. Although not yet in official missionary capacity, he served with many people who were. Through them, God planted seeds of missions and there was no looking back! Larry enjoys working in different cultures with different people, and in life has spoken six different languages!

Ou served in missions with several organizations after graduating from Bangkok Bible College (1988) and before joining World Partners.  Her focus has been in children’s ministry but she also served ministering to refugees after the Viet Nam and Cambodian conflicts.  In 1995 Ou established an orphanage in the Isaan (Northeast) Region of Thailand, ministering to children whose parents had died or were otherwise unable to raise them, and to children affected by HIV and AIDS.  Ou loves children and loves to share with them the love of Jesus and His Gospel.

Like Adam, God has called Larry to be a gardener – to produce and steward.  (Genesis 2:15).  With countries restricting more traditional ways of sharing, agriculture becomes a creative and effective way to plant seeds of hope and the Gospel. Taking agricultural themes from the Bible, Larry enjoys developing sustainable agricultural programs that share a Gospel message.

Larry began service with World Partners in 1994 and Ou in 2012, although she did not become a full member until 2020.

Ou grew up in the provincial capital of Ubon Ratchathani, in Northeastern Thailand.  Ubon is the eastern-most province in Thailand, bordering Laos and Cambodia.  At the age of 18, Ou, who comes from a traditionally Buddhist family, gave her life to Jesus in a local CMA church, along with one of her sisters.  Larry grew up in Kalamazoo, Michigan, attending a local Lutheran Church. Thanks to parents and grandparents, he has known and loved Jesus for as long as he can remember.  At a televised Billy Graham crusade during college, Larry officially received Christ as LORD.  After receiving a masters’ degree, and serving two years with the US Peace Corps, Larry devoted his life to serving the LORD as an agricultural missionary. Larry has served long-term in nine countries on three continents.

Prayer Concerns
•    For clear vision and bold intent to see and follow the Holy Spirit’s leading
•    That God would confound the plans of the evil one and open a door to revival in the Isaan
•    For strength, wisdom and protection in the spiritual warfare we are in
•    For wisdom and knowledge relating to people (particularly Buddhist) with gentleness and respect, and yet with precision and intent to bring out the truth and share the hope within us (1Peter 3:15-16)
