After a three year hiatus due to COVID restrictions, the World Partners staff met at the Amigo Centre in Sturgis, Michigan, to Refresh, Reconnect, Renew according to the theme for the annual retreat.

All World Partners staff who are in the U.S. on Home Ministry Assignment (HMA) or serve in the U.S. were invited. Various World Partners Regional Strategy Coordinators were also in attendance, as were a group of World Partners RSCs and affiliates who took time out of attending the Missionary Church Hispanic/Latino Conference to participate. Some staff met for the first time while others renewed old acquaintances.

Mornings were committed to office business and updates, afternoons were free to enjoy swimming or hiking the trails. Evenings involved worship and devotionals led by World Partners directors Rick Dugan and Joe Johns, and newly retired World Partners director Dave Mann.

Wednesday evening was a time to celebrate Dave’s many years of faithful service to World Partners. Dave played a song on his banjo and told of funny memories across the globe. Dave’s final evening with the staff ended on a sweet note-cake for everyone.

Julia Pelmear provided a mini-Vacation Bible School for the Missionary Kids while their parents were in the morning sessions. World Partners staff John and Julie Gerig provided a Bible study and games for the teenagers each evening.

On the final day, Dave Mann presented a message to the group, led communion, and commissioned the staff as they left the retreat. The office staff has already begun making plans for next year’s retreat, in July 2023!
