Praying for Breakthrough

Nigeria: Please pray for a gathering of some of WP’s West African Network leaders this next week. Ask the Lord to deeply encourage and encounter these leaders who are bearing witness to Jesus in very difficult contexts.

Nepal: Continue to pray for courageous WP partners who are responding to the communities most affected by the devasting floods in Nepal. At last report, 6,000 persons are still missing.

Various: Thank the Lord for a recent virtual meeting of the leaders from the Global Fellowship of Missionary Churches—a group of 22 Missionary Church denominations from around the world. The meeting was focused on prayer and encouragement for one another.

USA: Ask the Lord to reveal more people within the Missionary Church USA on whom He had placed a global call for missionary work. Pray for WP to get in contact and help them discern their missionary call.

Europe: Pray for missionaries who are seeking the Lord about a particular ministry initiative. Ask the Lord for clarity and wisdom as they seek to understand the timing related to this ministry vision.

Good News

Praise the Lord for this encouraging update from one of our WP staff members, Steve:

We've seen some beautiful discipleship/ growing encounters happen this year as our team of My Samaria young adults have begun to teach and learn how to share the gospel with Muslim children. They are learning to pray into situations where we have to allow the Lord to answer, and we've seen together as a team how God has answered prayer.

As we serve our community together with our larger My Samaria team, our lives have been enriched in so many ways. We have been blessed by our disciples pulling together, working together without large resources.

A story from Guatemala

Crippled by Polio, Chained by Addiction, Defined by Christ

“Polio is something of the distant past,” I thought… until I faced someone still living with its crippling touch. Meet Fernando.

Growing up, his atrophied legs and reliance on crutches made him the subject of ridicule and rejection by his peers, leading to depression and low self-esteem. When he discovered alcohol, his first drink spiraled into many years of addiction.

Fernando had just come out of rehab when he visited our church in February 2025. I was preaching that Sunday, and after the service, he came up to me and asked if I would mentor him. When I saw him (and his crutches), the answer was easy.

In the years leading up to becoming a missionary, I suffered several knee injuries and setbacks that caused me to spend almost two years on crutches. I didn’t understand why God was allowing it then, but looking back, I understand now how God used that period of suffering to prepare me to minister to Fernando.

For just over a year now we’ve been meeting weekly to talk about life, study God’s Word, and seek Jesus together. Although Fernando has faced many challenges along the way, instead of turning back to the bottle, he has clung to Christ.

Last year, Fernando affirmed his decision to follow Jesus in the waters of baptism, and in February, he celebrated a year of sobriety! He even recently preached his first sermon as well!

Despite everything he’s been through… a virus that crippled his legs, rejection from his peers, and the chains of addiction… Jesus had the last word! Today Fernando’s identity is not defined by anything other than the love of Jesus.

It’s truly amazing what God has done in Fernando’s life, but I want to ask you this: Who might be a “Fernando” in your life? Who is rejected? Who is hurting? Who needs a mentor? Perhaps God is calling you, and has even been preparing you, to walk beside them. Will you respond to the call?

RSC (in head scarf) serving French women at the event mentioned)
The Uighurs are a Muslim people group numbering between 10–12 million in the far western Chinese province of Xinjiang, with over 2 million more living outside China as immigrants and refugees. Since 2017, the Chinese government has engaged in systematic oppression of the Uighur people—actions that the U.S. government has recognized as genocide. Because of this ongoing persecution, Ruthanne is currently unable to return to Western China.

Ruthanne believes God has placed her strategically in Houston, where she can disciple Chinese believers with a heart for reconciliation while also evangelizing and discipling the Uighur diaspora. Having served bi-vocationally in these communities for several years, she is now transitioning to full-time ministry supported by the donations of the body of Christ.

You can keep up with her ministry and prayer needs by requesting to receive regular email updates.
